The  Giving Tree

Stingray News:

Food Drive: Sumpter’s food drive kicked off was on Monday, November 3rd. We will continue to collect food through November 20th.  We are looking forward to working together for a great cause!

Lost and Found:  Our Lost and Found always has many unclaimed items.  If your student has any missing clothing items, please check the Lost and Found when you attend your parent teacher conferences.  All items will be removed from the building and donated to our local charity after conferences at the end of November.

Student Medication:  All medications needed by a student during the school hours must be kept in the office and administered only by trained staff.  State law requires all medications be brought into the school and proper paperwork to be completed by the parent for medications check-in and check-out.  Also, all over-the-counter medications must be in the original container and prescription medications must be properly labeled by the pharmacy with the students name on the prescription.  When refilling medication supplies here in the office, we must have the most current prescription bottle.

Parent Club News:

A BIG thank you to all who contributed to the Jog-a-Thon this year, it was a HUGE success!!! We raised $18,774.51!!!! This has been our best year in a long time we couldn’t have done it without you!! There were 94 students at our After Dark party, what a fun evening!  The students deserved a night out after all that hard work.
The book fair was also a HUGE success. We made over $1500 in cash for our library and $800 in Scholastic credits.  Our Trick-or-Treat night was so much fun.  Thank you to all who donated candy and treats for the kids, the smiles on their faces were priceless! It was a great community night and fun for all.
Thank you to all of our Picture Day volunteers, the day went well and finished ahead of time.
Conferences are coming, please look for a sign up to bring meals to our wonderful staff.
Next parent club meeting is November 11th @4pm in the library.  We had a great turn out for our last meeting!
Thank you so much to our Sumpter community for all of your time and donations for our wonderful school.  Our kids are really lucky to have you!

Continued Principal’s Pen

support Sumpter this year is to donate reams of white copy paper to our school office.  This year’s curriculum requires a lot of print, which means lots of copy paper, so a single ream, a dozen or a box of white copy paper is greatly appreciated.  Thanks!

Please join me with other parents for our next "Coffee Talk" to be held Friday, November 7th, from 9:30 a.m. - 10:00 a.m.  This is a wonderful opportunity for me to informally visit with parents and community supporters.

I'm looking forward to another great month of learning and fun with your children.  Thank you for being involved in your child's education!

Janet Prats- Principal of Sumpter

City of Salem to Develop a New
Master Plan for Minto Brown Island Park

The City of Salem is developing a new Master Plan for Minto-Brown Island Park, and your participation and input is important to us.

Minto-Brown Island Park is a 1,205-acre nature park close to downtown Salem.  The park has 20 miles of paved and unpaved trails, and is a favorite of Salem residents and visitors alike.  Whether you enjoy walking, running, biking, taking your dog for a walk, bird watching, or just enjoying being out in nature, Minto-Brown Island Park is a great place to escape the hustle and bustle of the city.

Public input is the key to the success of this master plan.  There are a variety of ways park users and residents can participate in this process.

1. On-line Survey
Please go to our website and fill out the first of several on-line surveys that will be posted as we go through the planning process.
