Road Closure Begins Wednesday, June 1, 2016

The intersection of Madrona Avenue SE and 25th Street SE will be closed to all traffic beginning at 6 a.m. on Wednesday, June 1, 2016. The intersection is scheduled to reopen to traffic at the end of October 2016.

Local access into the construction zone will be maintained on both 25th Street SE and Madrona Avenue SE; however, the intersection will be closed entirely to all traffic, including pedestrians, bicyclists, and motorists.

A signed detour route (map attached) along Pringle Road SE and McGilchrist Street SE will be in place for the duration of the closure. Motorists may also use alternate routes to avoid the closure area.

During the detour, the speed limit on McGilchrist Street SE between 25th Street SE and Pringle Road SE will be posted at 30 mph. Motorists should expect delays and traffic congestion in the area as a result of the construction work.

LIMITED AREA BOIL WATER NOTICE
Harlandale Estates/Bramble Hills on Barnes Avenue SE Between Stroh Lane SE and Commercial Street SE

At approximately 10:20 p.m., May 25, 2016, a vehicle struck a fire hydrant on Barnes Avenue SE. To mitigate damage caused by water flowing from the broken fire hydrant, maintenance crews had to shut down the water main causing water pressure to be interrupted to approximately 65 homes in the Harlandale Estates/Bramble Hills area on Barnes Avenue SE, between Stroh Lane SE and Commercial Street SE in the City of Salem (see attached map). No other areas of the water system were affected by the pressure interruption.

Oregon Health Authority rules require a Boil Water Notice be issued as a precautionary measure if system pressure is lost. This notice will be in effect until water within the affected area is verified safe by bacteriological testing. Water Services staff are hand delivering notices to all affected customers. Water sample results are expected by mid-day Friday, May 27, 2016. Notices will be delivered to the affected customers following results of the water samples.
