Sumpter Elementary School will be closed for the summer because of renovations and repairs occurring at the school, and we need your help in getting the word out. Please share this information with community members. The school building will be a construction zone and all public access will be blocked to ensure a safe environment.
This summer work is exciting news for the district, students, teachers, and community members. When the school reopens this fall, there will be new flooring and HVAC system.
All this repair work is thanks to the support of our local voters who approved a $242.1 million construction bond measure in November 2008 to help repair and renovate more than half the schools in Salem-Keizer, as well as build four new schools in key areas in our community.
How can community members contact Sumpter Elementary office staff during the summer?
Sumpter Elementary office staff will be located at Lee Elementary School at 5650 Venice Street SE from June 19-27. The phone number will be the same as Sumpter’s main phone and fax numbers: (503) 399–3337 and fax: (503) 391-4080. Summer hours are 8:00–4:00 pm.
The office will re-open on August 13 at the temporary summer location at Lee Elementary.
Lee Elementary is less than 10 minutes from here:
1. Head west on Rockwood St SE toward Valleywood Dr SE
2. Turn right onto Valleywood Dr SE
3. Turn right onto Lone Oak Rd SE
4. Take the 2nd right onto Kuebler Blvd
5. Turn right onto Battle Creek Rd S
6. Turn left onto Avalon Ave S
If community members would like to more information about the construction occurring during the summer or want to track progress as our district implements the construction bond, they can view the district’s construction website at: http://www.salkeiz.k12.or.us/content/bond-updates.
In addition, because Sumpter Elementary will be closed, we will not be renting space to individuals or community groups at this location. We appreciate anything you can do to help us spread the word so that our community members have adequate time to relocate their activities.
We appreciate everyone’s patience and support as we work with one another to deal with the inconveniences that construction brings to our community. But we hope you join us in welcoming the improvements to Sumpter Elementary in the fall of 2012.
