OPEN HOUSES AND PUBLIC HEARING FOR PROPOSED CELL TOWER REGULATIONS

City of Salem to Host February Events Regarding Proposed Code Amendments

The City of Salem Planning Division is hosting two open houses to provide information on proposed regulations for locating cell towers and other support structures such as antennas and related equipment.

The two open houses have been scheduled as follows:
* February 7, 2013 from 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. in the Anderson Room of the Salem Public Library, 585 Liberty Street SE
* February 20, 2013 from 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Center 50+, 2615 Portland Road NE

The proposed regulations include:
* A new zoning chapter with application requirements, approval criteria, and siting and development standards
* Regulations for antennas attached to utility poles in public rights-of-way
* Design standards for cell towers near residential and commercial office zones
* Related changes to other zoning chapters.

The Planning Commission will hold a public hearing on the proposed regulations on Tuesday, February 26, 2013 at 5:30 pm at City Hall, Council Chambers, Room 240, 555 Liberty Street SE. The public may testify at the hearing or submit written comments before the hearing to Community Development, 555 Liberty Street SE Room 305, Salem,,Oregon 97301-3503.
