Sumpter Parent Club Minutes – Jan 15, 2013
Welcome & Introductions (sign in)
December meeting minutes approval with one correction to the date of May 4h for the Awesome 3000 – motion made by Tara Hurley and seconded by Karen Macedo.
Funds Requests
The 4th grade is requesting $324.60 more than normal for the field trip to Aurora, this is due to having two split classes a ¾ split and a 4/5 split where all students will be going on the field trip due to not having teachers that will be available to stay behind at the school to teach them that day. Motion made by Annette Brown to approve this amount and seconded by Alicia Matson.
Treasurer’s Report/Budget – Patrick Hurley
Available balance is $19,255.78.
Patrick has been looking into Lowe’s being a possible business partner for our school. They do $2000-$3000 grants, which could possibly be used to purchase supplies for benches in the garden area.
$5500 for technology might be freed up due to the school district facilities not being able to get to our request for the power to the ceilings to mount document cameras.
Committee Reports
Box tops- Keep bringing in those box tops as the contest runs through mid February.
Campbell’s Soup Labels-Tara Hurley had an idea to get about 7 globes to place around the library for all students to be able to use and explore while in the library. It was agreed to start collecting labels for this after the EGC classroom gets what they are wanting from the program.
School Report
Ms. Prats reported that District testing for 3rd, 4th, and 5th grades in Math will be starting soon. As far as State testing she would like to start after Spring Break, but due to the Rosedale computers still not being online that she might have to start testing as early as late February in order to get everyone done. Sumpter was selected to test an additional test, the Smart Balance Test, which the 5th grade students will take the last week in April. The 4th grade students could possibly be included in this selection as well. Ms. Prats came to the Parent Club meeting with many volunteer needs for the school. Annette Brown sent out a separate email listing these needs and the contact information for each.
Other Business
Annette Brown brought up if there is a need to move the Parent Club meeting to a different time of the day in order to get more people to come to the meetings.
The Auction/Raffle Spring FUNdraiser is tentatively planned for Friday May 17th. We are checking to make sure this works with the school calendar with Donna Robinson.
