Proposed Ordinance to Prohibit Smoking on All City Properties City Council has directed staff to prepare an ordinance for its consideration that would prohibit smoking, including e-cigarettes, on all City-owned properties, both indoors and outdoors.  This would include all City parks and City municipal employment sites.  Public Works staff will conduct a public outreach effort in February, March, and early April to gauge public opinion and see if there is support for such an ordinance.  More information will be available on the City website within the next couple of weeks and there will be an on-line survey available soon.  If you want to have staff visit your neighborhood association meeting on this topic please contact me at mbecktel@cityofsalem.net or call at 503-588-6211.
