Committee Reports

Technology: Janet Prats thanked everyone for their patience regarding our new iPads. We have not been

given a precise time frame for arrival but many teachers have been preparing by doing Webinar training. We are

also still waiting for the installation by Cherry City Electric of the remaining 3 projectors.

BoxTops: Jennifer Koenig reported that the contest is still going strong & doesn't end until the end of February

2014 so please keep them coming in! Reminder: All BoxTops have expiration dates so please keep them coming

in regularly. Campbell's labels are another great way to earn money for Sumpter and are collected all year too.

Yearbook: Don't forget to submit your 5th grade child's baby photos. Digital files are preferred, which can be

emailed to sumpterparentclub@gmail.com -or- a printed photo can be turned into the office with the student's

name, classroom # and teacher. All printed photos will be returned to you.

School ReportJanet Prats reported a current enrollment of 489 students. She said that Melinda Wilson (5th

grade teacher) and student Ethan Pulley will be spotlighted at the January 14th Board Meeting. Mrs. Wilson was

awarded Teacher of the Month by Dr. Cole Johnson and received a check for $200. Ethan Pulley entered an essay

about his teacher to Dr. Johnson's "Teacher of the Month" contest. You can read Ethan's essay here:

Volunteer OpportunitiesPlease email sumpterparentclub@gmail.com if you'd like to help plan and/or

volunteer at any of these events.

Spring Auction: We'd like to have an off-site auction! This will be an evening event for adults only and

will not be held at Sumpter so we're discussing possible dates and locations for the 2014/2015

school year. We do not have time to put this together for this year.

Spring Soc-Hop/Basket Raffle: The date for this event will be May 16th and there will be changes to

the way raffles and basket prizes are handed out to winners to streamline the process and make the

event even more fun and enjoyable for everyone.

Math Night: Mr. Tobias will be volunteering his time planning this March 1st event and a school

assembly to kick it off is in the works.

Staff Appreciation: Our annual staff appreciation week is scheduled for the 1st week of May 2014.

Fund Requests – Jane Morris (Climate Committee) requested $318.36 to purchase student awards that will be

given at assemblies at the end of each grading period. Students are very excited to receive these awards so we

will be discussing the addition of this to our yearly budget. Alicia Matson motioned to approve the fund request,

Brittany Springer seconds, voted & approved.

Our next meeting will be Tuesday, February 11th 2014 at 4:00pm.
