Mr. Ochoa & Mrs. Allemann: Scholastic Weekly Readers Funds Proposal- They requested $2,758.73 to cover the cost of all of the weekly readers for grades 1st thru 5th for the school.  All students receive this weekly magazine and there is a video that teachers can show lessons in class, showing current events. The students also receive a Science Spin issue each month.  Ms. D’Anna added that she loves this and uses them extensively in her classroom.  Students can access the digital issue online at home with a password from their teacher.  Mr. Ochoa talked about what a fantastic resource this is for upper grades.

Off Site Auction Confirmed:  The offsite auction/dinner has been confirmed for Sunday February 15th at 5:30pm at Amadeus restaurant downtown.  This site has been donated to Sumpter PTC by the owner and a fellow Sumpter Parent Alena Stewart.  This facility only holds 80 people so the tickets to this will be limited. A committee is being formed and donations are needed to make this a successful event. If you are interested in helping with this event please contact Michelle Muth or Jennifer Koenig at sumpterparentclub@gmail.com..

Treasurer’s Report:  Jennifer Koenig  reported that $18,514.25 had been deposited from the Jog-a-thon, with expenses of $1,097.06 netting a profit of $17,417.19. After all obligations we currently have $19,381.31. If we didn’t get any more fundraising money this year we could potentially fund next years budget of $17,350 and have a surplus of $2.031.31.

School Report- Mrs. Prats reported that we currently have just under 500 students at Sumpter.  Testing is new this year with SBECK this is common core performance testing. The students have some anxiety about this as it is new. Parents can download sample questions online.

Committee Reports- Box Tops: Jennifer Koenig reported that the Box Tops were counted at the end of Oct by several parent volunteers and it was much easier dividing the counting load by Kiva. $574.10 worth of Box Tops was sent in Nov. 1st and we had another $595.90 in our account from our June submission so a check for $1,170. should be arriving mid December. The  contest is still going on thru February.

Campbell’s Soup Labels for Education:  Jennifer Koenig reported that the Campbells Labels for Education program has added ipad mini’s onto their online catalog so that is something we could work toward with this. Also they have added a Visa gift card that we could use for anything. These labels are now becoming more valuable to the PTC so Jennifer is working on a separate contest coming soon.

Book Fair:  The book fair was very successful. Thank you parents for bringing candy for the trick or treating. The school earned $800 in Scholastic Dollars for our library to purchase new materials.

Staff Meal during Conferences:  This was discussed and the idea of having a taco bar was decided on. MIchelle Muth will be putting out a sign up genius email to all parents requesting food items to make this a success.

Fund Requests: Mr. Lewis requested $280.00 for the cost of buses to take the choir to the state capital.  Jennifer Koenig made a motion to approve, Alicia Matson 2nd the motion and it was approved.

Scholastic Readers:  Johnny Deblock made a motion to approve $2,000 to go towards the readers this year. Shannon Elkins 2nd the motion and it was approved.

Gloria Flager of the climate committee requested $80 for the cost of buttons for the quarterly awards handed out for Math Facts, Attendance, Tardies, and Citizenship, Nicole Francis made a motion to approve, Johnny Deblock 2nd the motion and it was approved.

Other Business- Kim Rasca brought up a question of why don’t we have a talent show at Sumpter. This has been discussed with Mr. Lewis in the past, possibly doing it as a fundraiser for more risers for his classroom. We will discuss more next meeting.

Meeting adjourned at 5:20pm. Next meeting will be on Tuesday, December 9th at 4:00pm.
